Christ in Me

Part 3

And this is the secret: Christ lives in you.
Colossians 1:27b (NLT)

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Acts 2:42-47 (NLT)

How can I be more of a participant and less of a consumer when it comes to my Church?

  1. Yield to _______________________________!

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

Ephesians 5:18-19 (NLT)

“So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
Luke 11:13 (NLT)

  1. Yield to _________________!

And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Ephesians 5:21 (NLT)

Thoughts and questions for discussion: As the body of Christ, we are called to reach out to the community. Grace Church has the privilege of offering opportunities to cover many of our community’s needs. Many people have been led by the Holy Spirit and started legacy ministries; the food pantry, the thrift store, 3rd Saturday distribution of food, haircuts, prayer, Celebrate Recovery and many more. This is just a taste of how we can yield to the Holy Spirit. Is the Holy Spirit placing a call on your heart for orphans, or the sick and hospitalized, or the imprisoned? We have those ministry connections as well. Jesus left an example and Paul followed, always reaching out and always looking for a chance to share the hope of the Gospel. Where are you being led? What is you big dream from the Spirit?

  1. Yield to others!

And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Ephesians 5:21 (NLT)

Thoughts and questions for discussion: We have ministry leaders and directors. We also have a vision and mission as a church. “To partner with God in transforming unbelievers into fully devoted disciples of Jesus to the glory of God. Our core values reaffirm this; 1)We are unashamedly God centered. 2)We are passionately people focused. 3)We are strategically team based.” Christ set a model of how to conduct ministry by building a team. We may not always agree on every item, but we must agree that teams are the demonstration of the body of Christ. We have made great effort to make sure there are no solo ministry leaders; they all have people who help make the decisions and guide the mission. Sometimes this means yielding opinions or decisions to a majority and supporting the mission. How have you been involved with team building at Grace Church? If you are not a part of a team, what is keeping you from helping?
