Dare to Dream
Part 4
Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.”
Exodus 3:10 (NLT)
But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”
Exodus 3:11 (NLT)
Three self-limiting beliefs that keep me from realizing my God-sized mission
1. “God, I’m not _____________________ enough!”
But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”
Exodus 3:13 (NLT)
2. “God, I’m not __________________ enough!”
But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?”
Exodus 4:1 (NLT)
3. “God, I’m not __________________ enough!”
But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”
Exodus 4:10 (NLT)
God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. “This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.”
Exodus 3:14 (NLT)

Three self-limiting beliefs that keep me from realizing my God-sized mission:

Thoughts and questions for discussion: Moses did not grow up in a Hebrew home, so he was not familiar with religious customs. Some of us can relate as we were not raised in religious homes or developed our faith early in life. As followers of Christ, Paul calls us a “new creation” (2Cor 5:17). When God speaks to us we tend to protest that we are not spiritual enough to do the mission. We reply to God as He is speaking to our spirit, “I don’t know how to do this”. When has God laid something on your heart and you thought you are not spiritual enough for that mission? Was it leading a small group? Facilitating a Bible study? Serving on a mission trip? What was your response to God speaking deep into your spirit?
But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?”
Exodus 4:1 (NLT)
Thoughts and questions for discussion: Doubt and fear are the two greatest myths we believe from Satan. He tells us regularly we are not good enough, educated enough, or the original doubt line, “Did God really speak to you?” As you can gather, Satan has been speaking these lies since the Garden of Eden. God calls us and will continue to call us to a mission that can be verified through scripture. Have you felt you couldn’t be of service because others doubted you? Or when did fear stop you before you even started to live out a God-sized dream?
But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”

Thoughts and questions for discussion: In the realms of education and raising children you may have heard the phrase, “Gifted and Talented” to represent those with exceptional intelligence. Those with special athletic abilities are picked and recruited by special teams and schools. But, if we look back to those God chose, who are they? Moses stuttered and was picked to be a mouth piece for God. Jesus picked fishermen; guys that had trouble memorizing verses from the Old Testament. Throughout history God has chosen men and women who have disabilities and simple folks to make a kingdom impact. They weren’t gifted as the world would call it; they were gifted by God to do a mission. How are you gifted by God to do a mission He has designed you for? Are you living out the God-sized dream He has given you? If not, why?
