Important Info

We would ask that you prayerfully think about when it's the right time for you and your loved ones to return in-person to Grace Church, Cape Coral campus. We will continue to offer worship and ministries online for those who are not ready or are not able to engage in in-person ministry. Our digital ministry community has grown tremendously over the last few months, and we know many who plan to continue to their discipleship using our online opportunities. You are part of our family now and we will continue to welcome you!

If you are sick, have been sick, or may have been exposed to COVID-19, please join us online. Additionally, if you have a health condition that makes you more vulnerable, we would encourage you to participate from home as well at this time.

For those who choose to attend in-person, here are some things to know:

  • Please follow social distancing requirements and sit only with those persons from your household.
  • Masks are optional during worship. Our best understanding is masks help prevent the spread of COVID and is a simple way we can all follow Jesus’ command to love our neighbor.
  • Children and Youth ministry is available.

What is choose recovery?

We are a group of people who freely admit that we struggle with addictions, afflictions, and compulsive behaviors, who gather together to choose recovery through a growing trust in Jesus who guides us to freedom by following a simple recovery path. No matter where you have been or what you have done, you are welcome here. Together we can find new purpose and joy as we choose recovery.

When we choose recovery, there are “5 Essentials” we can embrace so our recovery is permanent, growing, and joy-filled:

  1. Jesus – trust him!
  2. 12 Steps – work them!
  3. Sponsor – get one!
  4. Meetings – attend them!
  5. Service – do it!

Our choose recovery program is not meant to be your only place of recovery. We strongly suggest you also attend traditional 12 step recovery programs. Welcome to a new way of life!

What is an Addiction, Affliction, or Compulsive Behavior?

An Addiction is an unhealthy use of a substance with an inability to stop, such as alcohol, drugs, food, smoking.

An Affliction is something we didn’t cause but it causes us suffering, such as abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, relationship issues, anger, depression, fear, pride, unforgiveness.

A Compulsive Behavior is the continued return to a harmful behavior with an inability to stop, such as gambling, cutting, workaholism, control, relationship addiction, sex addiction, shopping.

Choose Recovery Small Groups:

Recovery from Anger: Recovery groups for men and women who find that anger is their first response to problems of any size. The anger may be very evident as rage, or less obvious in terms of withdrawal and isolation. These groups focus on managing a God-given emotion in constructive ways.

Chemical Dependency: If you find that you cannot quit drinking or using entirely, even when you honestly want to, or if you have little control over the amount you consume, you are probably an alcoholic and/or an addict.  If that is the case, you may be suffering from a problem that only a spiritual solution will conquer.

Codependency: This group is for those struggling with the compulsion to rescue and take care of others, have difficulty setting boundaries, or recognizing their own worth. Members in this group learn to express their own needs and wants in healthy ways.

Physical, emotional and sexual abuse: This group is for those who have endured past physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse.  Recovery includes healing from the traumas done to us at some time in our past as well as healing from the influence these past experiences continue to have on our lives.

Sexual addiction: This small group offers Christ-centered support group for men seeking recovery from lust and compulsive sexual behaviors.  The cornerstone for our recovery is the power and love of Christ.  It is built on the fellowship of the group, having a safe place to share our struggles, pain and victories, with accountability and support.

Love and relationship addiction: Love Addiction consists of three components: Romance, Relationship and Sexual Addiction.  This group provides a safe place to deal with depression, isolation, lack of trust, and the unhealthy use of love & relationships as means of achieving worth.
