Welcome Home

The Christmas song says, “There’s no place like home for the holidays.” Throughout the Bible, “home” is a powerful image of our place encounter with God. More than anything this Christmas, we need more encounter with God. This Advent, we will consider how we might come “home” for Christmas. Welcome home!

November 29

Jesus takes the initiative to be at “home” in our lives and makes the first move towards us. God in Christ became a human being and “moved into our neighborhood.”

December 6

Jesus makes himself at home in our messy lives. Jesus invited himself to Zacchaeus’ house, a home that was empty and lonely because of Zacchaeus’ vocation and reputation. He still does this kind of stuff.

December 13

Am I going to get a mansion when I get to heaven? Is this going to be my heavenly home?

December 20

For those of us who feel spiritually homeless, Jesus empathizes. When he was born, there was no place for him.

December 24 (Christmas Eve)

Whether you’ve run away from home or stayed at home and been distant, your heavenly Father invites and welcomes you to come home to his extravagant, reckless love.

December 27

For followers of Jesus who live at “home” in Jesus and yet feel homeless in this world, our living hope is in the promise that there is a day coming when God’s home will be among his people forever.

Important Info

If you are sick, have been sick, or may have been exposed to COVID-19, please join us online. Additionally, if you have a health condition that makes you more vulnerable, we would encourage you to participate from home as well at this time.

For those who choose to attend in-person, here are some things to know:

  • Please follow social distancing requirements and sit only with those persons from your household.
  • We are requiring every person to wear a mask during indoor worship. Our best understanding is this precaution helps prevent the spread of COVID and is a simple way we can all follow Jesus’ command to love our neighbor.
