CR - 01/18/19 - Victoria G. Testimony

CR - 01/18/19 - Victoria G. Testimony

Series: Choose Recovery

Category: Cape Coral Campus

Summary:

Testimony

Detail:

Message Notes

Step One:  We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors and that our lives had become unmanageable.

I know that nothing good lives in me, that is in my sinful nature.  For I have a desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.  - Romans 7:18

Notes about Victoria’s testimony

Questions for Recovery Group Discussion:

Victoria described some of the feelings she had as a child growing up in a difficult home.  Many times even when we grow up in a loving home, our feelings make us act out.  Describe how your feelings have led you down unhealthy paths in the past.

It’s hard for us to see how far into our own unhealthy pit  we have actually gone, filled with addictions, afflictions and compulsie behaviors.  How does denial play a part in your story?

Victoria relied on some women in her early recovery to help her onto the right path.

Eventually she found a sponsor. Who have been your guide(s) in your early recovery?  If you don’t have a guide, when will you make these relationships?

The first step is about powerlessness.  What does powerless mean to you?  What do you have power over, and what do you have no power over?

Where are you in your steps right now?
