Cindy Jones is a grateful disciple of Jesus Christ who serves as Pastor of Congregational Care at the Cape Coral Campus. Her responsibilities and joy are helping provide a network of pastoral care, working with Exceptional Entrepreneurs, grief ministry, ministry to families with Alzheimer's, ministry with juveniles who are incarcerated, the Garden of Grace, prayer shawl ministry, PAWS (Pets Are Working Saints), and many other groups and ministry teams at Grace Church.
Growing up in loving United Methodist parsonages, wonderful youth group experiences, and a strong campus ministry in Illinois helped bring her to be called to ordained ministry as a young adult. After training as a special education teacher and working in Montessori schools, she felt led to attend seminary and explore her calling.
In 1976 she married the love of her life, E. Mike Jones, who also was being called to ministry. They attended and graduated from Duke Divinity School in 1978 and returned to Illinois to serve cooperative parishes together. For 38 years Cindy served as an ordained elder in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of The United Methodist Church. Her appointments have included four churches of varying sizes, as chaplain at two Methodist Homes for Children & Youth, and 13 years as a District Superintendent. She was also blessed to have served the denomination on several general boards and agencies including the Board of Discipleship.
After the death of her husband Mike, she retired early in 2014 and moved next door to her parents, who now live less than a mile from the Cape Coral Campus! Her two adult daughters, Elizabeth and Rachel, live far away but visit regularly and are two of the greatest joys of her life.
At Grace Church, Cindy delights in the variety of ways that God has provided learning experiences of receiving and sharing God's transforming power. She still can't believe that she gets to see palm trees and hear the waves of the Gulf of Mexico on a regular basis and gets to worship and serve Jesus with such great folks!
