Prayer Teams

Prayer is an important part of the success of the Grace Community Center, for we know that without God’s powerful touch, we would just be another thrift store or food bank. But with God’s almighty blessings, we do our best to answer His call, to serve and honor Him.

We offer many opportunities to pray with our guests - as they come to receive food on a "Third Saturday" event, visit our thrift store or stop in to just "check us out". At the cash register of the thrift store, guests are encouraged to fill our a prayer request – and a team of our "prayer warriors" (those gifted with the gift of prayer) prays over those specific requests. Each day before we open the doors of the thrift store, our dedicated volunteers circle up, grasp hands and we pray for one another.

One shopper was obviously burdened by a personal issue and one of team noticed that she was distraught and asked if she could pray her. Indeed she could, as her family was just devastated by a suicide. One woman had filled out a prayer request stating that she needed some pots and pans, the next day her prayers were answered through a donation from the thrift store. One family had a kitchen fire and lost all of their kitchen wares, we were able to help. A ten year old boy in Lehigh needed a bicycle. One of our team members fixed up a donated bike, lubed it and tuned it up – and gave it to the family. As young Omar rode his new bike around this parking lot, he was wearing the biggest smile you’d ever seen. Prayer answered.

Here is what some of our guests are saying:

"Its helps me with my groceries and clothing that I need – and I don't get no more than what I need. And the prayer most of all. I really need that. Sometimes I get stressed out and my blood pressure is up – and through prayer everything’s going be alright."

"We were blessed with 2 grocery bags full of food. We were very touched as well as humbled by the love we felt from all the people there, especially, one woman we only know as Alice. She prayed with us after we were interviewed; God was definitely "in that house"!
