Structure

Preface

In scripture, God champions healthy and holy relationships.  These are relationships between Christ-followers that are united with a purpose.  Within the body of Christ, we must make it our aim and passion to order ourselves in these healthy and holy relationships.

Teams are God’s method of accomplishing His purposes in the world.  We order our ministry at Grace Church around teams.  These teams are covenant communities that meet regularly with crystal clear focus and purpose while seeking to maintain healthy, Christ-honoring relationships with one another.  By necessity this means that trust must be built, earned and maintained.   Every team will create covenants of how we will treat one another.

We have two types of teams that lead and govern Grace Church:

1.  Grace Leadership Council: oversees Grace Church “global” by laity and staff

2.  Campus specific Guide Teams: manages individual campuses of Grace Church by laity and staff

We also have short-term task teams that address specific and immediate needs either at an individual campus or across the whole of Grace Church.

Grace Leadership Council

The Lead Pastor of Grace Church directs this team.  They have a “global” responsibility to oversee the whole of the Grace Church family.  This team is made up of the Campus Pastors/Directors from each campus and at least one lay person from each campus.  The kinds of gifts needed for this team are: leadership, team building, prayer/intercession, discernment, strategic thinking, and financial acumen. Their assignments include:

1.  Vision-casting for Grace Church as a whole

2.  Accountability, evaluation and alignment of Grace Church campuses around vision, DNA and
     Strategy Playbook

3.  Strengthen and protect the unity of Grace Church including but not limited to the building and
keeping of covenants for all teams

4.  Encouragers of Grace Church campuses, Campus Pastors and leaders

5.  Prayerful discernment regarding future campuses and ministries of Grace Church

6.  Development of strategies to establish future campuses and ministries of Grace Church

7.  Coordination of on-going cooperative ministries between campuses and ministries of Grace
     Church

8.  Coordinating short-term task teams between campuses and ministries of Grace Church

9.  Ensure compliance with the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church particularly in the
functions for the Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development, Staff-Parish Relations
Committee, Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.  They are responsible for the appointment
of ordained clergy to Grace Church

10. Serving as a catalyst for change within the greater body of Christ and particularly within the
      United Methodist Church

Campus specific Guide Teams

These campus specific teams are charged with governance responsibilities and are accountable to the Grace Church Council. Laity and select staff from the specific campus can serve on the Guide Team.  The Campus Pastor leads this team.  This team is made up of staff and laity.  The Lead Pastor is invited to attend all meetings.  The following are the Guide Team assignments:

-  Discernment of major future initiatives and decisions of campus.

-  Oversee the Board of Trustee, Finance Committee and Staff-Parish Relations Committee
responsibilities in keeping with the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church and report to
