Think about all the things Jesus has given you. It’s a pretty long list. Below are three gifts He has given you that are likely at the top of your list.
Jesus gave you salvation!
In Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV), we read, "...because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."
Our salvation is the greatest gift we will ever receive but Jesus doesn’t end His gift giving there.
Jesus gave you sustenance!
In Colossians 1:16 (NLT), we read, "Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—kings, kingdoms, rulers and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him."
Everything that is of value to you was created by Jesus…family, friends, and faith to name a few. But there is more!
Jesus gave you the Spirit!
Before leaving earth, Jesus made this promise in John 14:16-17a (NLT), "…I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit…"
The Holy Spirit dwells within the life of every Christ-follower to empower us to love and live for Jesus. A growing follower of Jesus is both commanded and invited to be like Jesus. Peter put it this way in I Peter 2:21b (NLT), "Christ, who suffered for you, is your example. Follow in his steps."
We are called to walk in the footsteps of our Master, Jesus. And yes, this includes the leveraging of our financial resources. How we invest our money speaks volumes about the seriousness of our faith in Jesus.
In 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV), Christ-followers are admonished to excel in their giving, "But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving."
Jesus was a big time spender! He literally spent His life for you and me. Learn the joy of generosity in response to the One who gave His all for you!
