The third Saturday of each month has become a hub for the community as we host many of our ministries on a single day each month. Regular programs include our food bank distribution, thrift store parking lot sale, GED training and parenting classes and sporting events such as basketball. We have also included free health screenings, our Naaman's AIDS ministry, SHARE Florida, free flu shots, our newest ministry Feed the Pack which assists pet owners in need, and the N. Ft. Myers Fire Department.
In just ten Saturday mornings in 2009, our food ministries have given away 42,186 pounds of food to 3525 guests, including fresh eggplants, tomatoes, green peppers, avocados, jalapenos, bananas, bread, even pickles and yes, fresh mullet! We given more than 6,068 articles of clothing to 652 families, provided 281 health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, diabetes checks, and flu shots. 93 of those checked were referred to see a doctor or the emergency room for further investigation; as a result of these screenings, we may have even saved a life! Our prayer teams build relationships with our guests and touch and change lives. We also provide free haircuts (394, year to date!) and mailbox delivery services to those without an address.
