God's vision for Grace Church

In September of 1996, Jorge Acevedo, our new pastor began to pray about what God wanted to do through the people of the new congregation he was charged with leading. That fall, he started praying a simple prayer "God, what’s your vision for Grace Church?" Within a few days, Jorge wrote these words:

To partner with God in transforming people from unbelievers to
fully devoted disciples of Jesus to the glory of God.

Later that fall, Jorge shared this with the small church staff at a planning retreat and there was a sense of immediate "buy in" by them. It was as if God had already placed the vision within the hearts of the staff and Jorge was only speaking it to draw it out of them.

As winter rolled around, Jorge shared the vision statement with church leaders and the entire congregation. Again, our people bought into these new marching orders.

Since 1996, this vision statement has served as our litmus test. It indicates whether we are on task with God's calling for our lives together. Over the years, we have dissected this vision statement into categories:

Our Partnership - To partner with God...
God has invited us into a joint venture. The greatest thrill in life is to know and serve God. We get a front row seat in God's loving take over of His creation.

Our Product - ...in transforming people...
What we get to see God do through us is change lives! Lives get put back together by a new or renewed encounter with Jesus Christ.

Our Process - ...from unbelievers to fully devoted disciples of Jesus...
No matter where people are in the faith, we want to assist them in taking next steps. From the disinterested to the seeker, from the new Christ-follower to the growing one, our desire is create an environment of honest spiritual growth.

Our Promise - ...to the glory of God!
Even though we get to play a part in God's work, He does the life changing and therefore, He deserves all the credit. This is our promise and pledge!
